Last month I shared about my participation in obstacle course racing. I love the race day experience, grinding it out on the course against everyone and pushing myself really hard, but what I love the most is the process of preparing for race day.
Each day when I go to the gym, I have a purpose for training because my workouts are designed to prepare me for my next race. Plus, having a race on the calendar defines how much time I have to prepare, so I have an increased sense of urgency to train everyday.
Obstacle course racing is my reason for training...what is yours? Do you have an event in the near future? Maybe it's your first 5K, an upcoming high school reunion, or perhaps your son's wedding is soon. If you do, great! Count how many days you have until your event and keep track of it daily to stay motivated. Then make a plan on how you are going to get ready for your event. Your plan doesn't have to be complicated. Decide how many days per week you are going to workout and what you plan to do each day. If after a few weeks you're not seeing results, then schedule a consultation with me or one of our trainers at CINCOfit.
If you don't have an event to train for, then I suggest you find one ASAP! After 14 years of personal training, my most successful clients have always been those with a well defined reason for working out. Start by checking the sites below:
